Abstract
In recent years, the issue of thermal comfort, in addition to indoor spaces, in outdoor and on the scale of urban space has also been raised. Outdoor thermal comfort influences the thermal sensations of pedestrians, so it has a great impact on the use of these spaces. In this study, due to the need to create thermal comfort in the open air in order to create a vibrant urban space and health, PMV, PET, SET, UTCI thermal comfort indices in one of the sidewalks of Mashhad city are examined to measure thermal comfort conditions. In order to improve the thermal quality of the current situation, suggestions should be provided.
This pedestrian is simulated similar to reality in Envi-met software. To validate the simulation, for 5 consecutive days in the summer using microclimatic monitoring as well as subjective interviews. A questionnaire is also provided to get the real feeling of pedestrians in the selected crossway to be completed by users on the days of temperature harvest and the results of the questionnaire are compared with the simulation results. Then, three different scenarios are designed with the collected information and previous studies, and the best scenario for the floor material is selected by software simulation. The selected materials for this sidewalk in the city of Mashhad are brick flooring. Lightweight concrete flooring, despite having high albedo, does not provide suitable conditions for more thermal comfort. Properly processed outdoor wood flooring can also be a good option for sidewalk flooring.
